Hitting and throwing require Ballistic Training. Swinging and throwing require muscle acceleration through the entire motion. This is why coaches stress following through. Exercises that let the muscle accelerate all the way through range of motion are called “ballistic exercises”. Ballistic training requires equipment and exercises specifically designed for hitting and throwing. SETPRO has a complete line of ballistic training equipment.

Smart power ballistic training tools.

SETPRO offers several swing training tools. These tools meet the training principle of "specificity". The specificity principle of training says that for maximum ballistic benefit, you must train using the same motions and speeds as the athletic event that you are trying to get better at. For a hitter this means swing training. You must also stress the muscle and nervous system beyond what it is used to. That's what swing training and feedback is 'all about".

All of our products are designed to work together. SMART POWER COMPUTERS/TRAINERS work with POWER SWING which work with PROCUT which work with... and so on. The word used to describe this is synergy. Synergy means 1+1=3. If you use POWER SWINGS you improve. If you use PROCUT you improve. IF you use POWER SWINGS and PROCUT you improve even more and faster. If you use POWER SWINGS and PROCUT and SPRT5A REACTION TRAINER you greatly improve.

POWER SWING; WEIGHT + AIR RESISTANCE = SWING STRENGTH. To develop fast muscle fibers, you must overload them. To develop the fast muscles that are used for swinging a bat, you need to overload them using a swing motion. POWER SWINGS are used with your regular bat to overload the muscles used to swing a bat. Comes with complete training information.

PROCUT; ADD “POP” TO YOUR SWING. One of the newest and most exciting developments. We tested PROCUT for a year before adding it to our system. PROCUT attaches to the KNOB (bottom) of the bat. This changes the balance point of the bat. When you swing, PROCUT provides resistance at the beginning of the swing PROCUT then helps keep the head of the bat from rotating out (sweeping) until your body is fully rotated. Then PROCUT POPS the wrists. This trains the muscle memory to release at the exact instant of maximum power. Our tests show that you can put a 12 ounce PROCUT on the knob of your bat and ADD 5 MPH to your swing speed! When use with POWER SWINGS, is a great 1-2 training combination.

SPEED BAT; A bat designed to your exact needs for overspeed training. Overspeed training is as important as overload training. The muscles learn how to be strong at the speed that they train at. If you always swing at or below your regular bat speed, your muscles won’t know how to go faster. By using a lighter bat (about 30% lighter) you get them to still have a load but they learn how to go faster. Using a wiffle ball bat does not work. It’s too light. Yes you swing fast, but because the load (weight of bat) is so light, there is no strength at this speed. As soon as you load the muscles up (use your regular bat), that speed goes away. Tell us the length and weight of your regular bat, and we will customize SPEED BAT to your individual needs. Remember all swing training requires overload AND overspeed training.

MEDICINE BALLS; use for strength to power conversion. With the discovery of weight training. medicine ball training was forgotten. Then the Russians and East Europeans started using plyometrics. Medicine ball training is an important tool for plyometric training. Now all serious baseball players use medicine ball training. But you must know how to use the medicine ball for best results. A recent study on improving throwing speed, compared two groups of experienced baseball players ages 19-24. One group did two heavy (80 percent of their maximum capability) weight training exercises. The other group did two of the more popular medicine ball training exercises. After 8 weeks of training, the medicine ball trained group showed no throwing speed improvement. The weight trained group showed 2-3 MPH increase. Two important points of the study: (1) heavy weight training is important to pitchers. (2) when medicine ball training exercises are not properly chosen, medicine ball training may be of little benefit. We supply a complete medicine ball training guide for hitters and pitchers.

POWER BAT; sport specific swing resistance training. We have great success with resistance tube training. It provides overload and range of motion training at the same time. Younger players not on a formal weight training

How well does SMART POWER TRAINING work?

"...Paul Nyman knows more about training to hit a baseball and hitting mechanics than any person that I have ever worked with" Mark johnson, NY Mets

...I ordered your REACTION POWER TRAINING system in July. My son Bill (12 years old) was training 30 minutes after receiving your package. Two weeks later we had an ALL STAR weekend of games (Little League). My son went 14 for 16 with 4 home runs. One of his home runs was over 300 feet and was the farthest ball most people had seen hit in a long time.. This year he is playing BABE RUTH. He has already started training (NOVEMBER). His bat speed has increased 25 MPH since first starting your program. Please tell anyone who wants proof that your system works far beyond my wildest dreams to call me. Thanks so much again and keep me posted on your new products... W.Gibson, W. Springfield MA.

John Zeega (slow pitch softball) writes…two years ago in 120 games I hit 7 home runs and batted .375. I bought your system last April and started training four weeks before the start of my season. I trained 3 times a week. My workouts take about an hour. Three weeks later we scrimmaged several teams. In a ball park where I never hit a home, I hit 7 bombs!! I ended the season hitting 82 home runs and batted .682. I was asked to play on a touring team. Your system has exceeded my wildest dreams.......

Trained and trained and only hit singles:....I am 17 years old and started training in November for my spring baseball season (starts in April). I would take 300-400 swings a day. This would include POWER SWING swings, hitting off of a tee and dry cuts. I lifted weights and did other plyometric type drills. During my high school season I hit for average (almost .500) but only had 13 extra base hits (mostly doubles). I called SETPRO at the beginning of June (1996) and asked about their SMART POWER SYSTEM. Mr. Nyman asked me a bunch of questions about my training. He told me I was working hard but not performing the proper exercises or exercise schedule. He told me what I needed to do to improve my training. I also was able to borrow my friends SPRT5A REACTION TRAINING system for the month of June. After three weeks of training with my new program, my bat speed went from 58 to 77 MPH. I played American Legion and hit 8 home runs in six weeks. I was invited to several show case games. Over 20 colleges have contacted me. My whole high school team is now using the SETPRO system in preparation for the 1997 season. Thank you so much for your help....B. J. Horsley Jr, New Jersey

..In 1995 I hit 17 home runs. During the off season I lifted weights and swung a heavy bat (64 ounces) trying to get stronger for the 1996 season. In 1996 my home run production dropped to 3 home runs. I was stronger but I was also slower. I saw SETPRO’s ad and bought a SMART POWER SYSTEM. I am training using
