There is a major changes in the works
at SETPRO.
Primary which is refocusing of what SETPRO is and is
not.
SETPRO IS a Sports Engineering and Training Products company.
As the name implies SETPRO is the technical aspects of sports training.
SETPRO IS NOT exclusively a baseball training operation.
Baseball has been and will continue to be a primary focal point
for much of the SETPRO's activities. You will see this in the creation
of several new SETPRO entities devoted exclusively to baseball.
SETPRO's Pitching Workshop (www.pitching.ws) and Hitting Workshop
(www.hitting.ws) will make their debut (beginning of July 1, 2004).
Two additional web sites that are NOT exclusively SETPRO but I
supported by myself will be making their debut this week.
They are www.hitting-mechanics.work and www.pitching-mechanics.org.
Both of these web sites will follow similar formats. They are
dedicated open forums for discussing hitting a pitching mechanics
theory and their applications.
What is particularly
interesting about these forums is that moderators for these forums
are coming from "all walks of hitting and
pitching life". Invitations to participate as a moderator
are being extended to anyone who wishes to seriously contribute
to the body of knowledge that is called hitting and pitching mechanics.
Within the next two to three weeks there will be some significant
new product introductions specifically for baseball hitting and
pitching.
The "Why" of SETPRO's restructuring...
SETPRO began selling fats be training systems in 1995. The
SETPRO web site logged on to the Internet in 1999.
From 1995 to present
time I have spent approximately 20,000 hours studying how players
swing and throw. this does not include most
of the business activities of developing and selling products.
to 20,000 hours represents pure investment in understanding how
the body throws in swings. this 20,000 hours represents my using
the disciplines of biomechanics, physics, physiology, motor learning,
complex dynamic
systems, etc.
It is nowtime to create products based on this huge investment
of time and efforts, which from a business perspective, has the
potential for a higher return
on theseinvestments
of time
and efforts .
What is really sad and frustrating (to me anyways) is that for
every dollar spent on training equipment, the information contained
in the SETPRO forums is worth to 100 times as much, my not so humble
opinion.
As in the old saying "practice does not make perfect, perfect
practice makes perfect".
This is not just my opinion but an opinion that is expressed by
almost everyone who had access to the SETPRO Customer Forums.
Yet very few people have the ability to see and understand this.
And from "my" observations,
those who do have the ability to see and understand this have
experienced the greatest baseball
success and experiences.
One of the sad facts of life is that baseball the baseball participation
at the youth level in the United States is on a rapid decline.
In our small-town of Westbrook, our elementary school population
has doubled since my children played Little League baseball (30
years ago).
At that time there were four Little League teams.
Today, with twice the number of potential players. there are only
two Little League teams.
Much of this decline is due to other options/activities that children
did not have 30 years ago.
I believe that part of this decline is also due to the loss of
interest that affects many players because of lack of success at
hitting, throwing or pitching a baseball. Much of this lack of
success can be traced to the loss of playground baseball.
In its place organized baseball has taken much of the fun out
of playing the game of baseball. Taken the fun out because well-meaning
parents and coaches who have very little clue are trying to replace
something (learning how to use your body to swing or throw) that
they're totally incapable of replacing by trying to instruct the
player on how to use their body to swing or throw.
Well-meaning coaches and parents who are more intent upon forfilling
their needs as opposed to the needs of the player.
What I find more than somewhat frustrating is when I offer my
services to a player in town and they have have no desire to take
me up on my offer. They or their parents would much rather work
with someone who had a cup of coffee in the minor leagues or major
leagues.
It's tragically funny
because when the few people who do know that I know something
introduced me to other coaches/parents, inevitably
the first question that I'm asked is "who did you play for....???"
As I've always said
I'm the " Rodney Dangerfield" a
baseball instruction and Training.
Some of you who have been longtime SETPRO readers (customer forums)
may appreciate the irony of this. Irony because I'm in much greater
demand to those who can have me than those who can. A testimonial
to how little clue most baseball people have.
Having been at this
forum "stuff" for over 5 years and
dealing with the general baseball public for almost 10 years, I
can say with confidence that when it comes to factual baseball
training and instruction information, 99% of baseball people have
absolutely no clue. Which in itself is understandable (I don't
expect them to have a clue).
But the sad (to me)
but true fact (what I have observed these past five years) is
that most who "claim" they want,
i.e. allegedly want, the best info and instruction REALLY DO NOT.
What they think they want and what they actually seek/end up with
are two very different things
What most people "actually do" (want?)
is to bury their head in the sands of belief systems and salesmanship.
For those 1% of you who have the intellect, curiosity, drive and
common sense to see through the minefield that is called baseball
instruction-information.
And also manage to see
through those who portray themselves as baseball "scientists" and/or "researchers",
I thank you for your patronage and patience during these past five
plus years.
It is also time after
these pastfive plus years of pushing the 5 ton baseball that
I consider "good info" up the infinite
mountain side that is called baseball belief systems, politics
and religion,
it is
time to move on to what SETPRO was originally intended to be, Sports
Engineering and Training PROducts.
It is time to concentrate on what people do seem to understand
and place greater value on, equipment that will have the greatest
chance of maximizing a player's baseball capabilities and abilities
and does not require any baseball knowledge, belief systems, religion
or politics to understand and use.
Thank you again for your participation in support and I wish all
best of luck in their future baseball endeavors.
It hopefully by refocusing my efforts and energies I may someday
have the freedom to fully pursue my true passion, the quest for
the Holy Grail of how the body throws, swings, hits and pitches......
As I was say
, please stay tuned as there is never a dull moment here at SETPRO
and please stay tuned.....!!
